Texas has temporarily suspended new connections to its power grid for data centers, as Governor Greg Abbott mandated state regulators and the grid operator to conduct audits on all proposed projects. This decision follows a report from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which revealed an unprecedented 474 gigawatts of interconnection requests, with approximately 90% linked to data centers.
