Five individuals have been found guilty of kidnapping and torturing two French cryptocurrency millionaires in London, demanding a ransom of $150,000. The victims were held for 52 hours, subjected to abuse, and coerced into paying $30,000 in cryptocurrency. CertiK reported 34 similar incidents of wrench attacks in early 2026, indicating a significant increase in kidnapping cases targeting Bitcoin holders. Recent attacks have also been associated with data breaches at cryptocurrency service providers.
